First Korean Snack: Dok Kko Chee

Just Yesterday in one of my fifteen minute classrooms I tried Dok kko chee. I entered the classroom and a student started saying dok kko chee. I didn't understand so the teacher translated. She said that she was asking if I had ever tried dok kko chee. I said no. I haven't eaten much korean food since I've gotten here, since I've been eating at the foreign cafeteria. They feed us food that is commom in the US. Anywho, the teacher explained to me that a student got a zero on his exam so he has to bring dok kko chee for everyone. Later on that kid arrived with the snack. The teacher gave me it and I got to eat it. It is rice cake or made out of flower with hot and sweet sauce. It is quite good, kinda gooey, but good. The kids really liked it. I got to eat that class period. It was fun, so that is my first Korean snack that I had.

Sounds interesting. My students have given me a few snacks... none hot..and they have been good. Enjoy the new foods while you can!
