Anabel and I went walking around today just checking out our surroundings. We wanted to get a few household items and so we ventured into the streets of Seoul. We ended up spending like 50$ on stuff. Anabel said that she thinks we spend more money because the Korean money is like fake money to her and so she doest really realize how much stuff can be. Well it definitely isnt monopoly money so we gotta watch ourselves! I saw this really cool set of random things in a store...random like a small hand clock, napkin holder, toothbrush holder, box, etc. it was really cool because it was made from either thick clear glass or plasic and it had a clear fluid between the walls. In the fluid there were flowers and petals in really bright colors...hard to explain, maybe I'll go back and grab a video of it because I liked it really well. Anyhow, I finally got to go across the street (the real reason I wanted to go shopping) to the ping pong club. Its like a 2-3 minute walk from where I'm staying right now. I went in and they couldnt speak english but were very nice and showed us where to sit. I watched a few games and then we got invited to play. Anabel and I played around on a table for a little bit and then I asked one of the Korean ladies to play. I watched their practice and she had a really good forehand shot. I rallied with her for a while and we played 4 games. The games were to 11 and each person only served twice. She beat me 3 out of 4 games. on the three that I lost I lost 9, 7, 9 and I won 11-8. It was really cool. Our styles were very different and I think I got some points off her just because I played a weird style. I then played this other chick who straight up smoked me 11-0. My next game I got 7, but she still whooped me. It was weird too because she would stomp on the floor with her foot every time she served and yell lol. Anyhow, for an hours worth of playing two people better than me it was 5000 won which is like $5.30. It was really fun and I'm sure I'll be back when I have time...which will most likely be on Friday morning or afternoon since I dont have any classes to teach then. Speaking of that, I guess I have a pretty tight schedule because I tend to make the other teachers drool when I show them. I have no class until 3pm and no classes on Fri. Another note about the classes that is a little different (not according to their policy, but I can handle the challenge) is that newbie teachers arnt supposed to teach adult classes and I have 2 of those...and newbies are forbidden to teach classes that start at 6am or 9:15pm and I have the 9:15pm class...weird but hey, it is a tight schedule!
