Hello All,
It's been a while since I last posted something on the blog. I'm sorry but I have had some complications with being able to access our blog in English. Anywho, I won't bore you with the details.
It will be about three weeks since we have gotten to the English Village here in Korea. We have been super busy with work. It is a new program, which requires a lot of planning and more time since we do not have enough foreign teachers (English speaking). We also work some weekends.
What is the English Village? Basically, it is a village built to replicate a village in Virginia. This Village was built by the Korean government and cost about 100 million dollars to build. Both the community and government helped pay for it. Korea is really big on teaching their kids to speak English. This village was made for people to come to the village to experience more than just learning the language. It is so they can also experience the culture and do activities and not just be in a classroom setting. It is located in the mountains in Korea. It is beautiful! We have different activities/classes for them to attend, such as: cooking class, science class, robotics class, newspaper class, broadcasting class and dance class. Dan is teaching in the science class and I am teaching in the cooking class. There are many programs for adults and children. We are attempting to start a Pathfinder program for the children, but it is kind of difficult to start. Dan is working on making a proposal for the pathfinder program. By the way, the English Village is different than the SDA Language Institute that most people that have come to Korea know. It is more like a summer camp all the time. It is lots of fun, but tiring as well. God will give us strength to do His work here.
Well, as you can see we have a lot of things going on and only 7 foreign teachers for the junior program and 3 foreign teachers for the adult program. We have a lot more Korean teachers, which is nice.
If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask.
I hope you are all doing well and I will attempt to put up pictures of the English Village soon so you can see the beauty of it.
God bless you all! He is doing a mighty work here. Your prayers are much appreciated! Please pray for us and the leadership here at the English Village.
